- You must have an appointment. Please call (337) 264-1088 to schedule your pet for surgery.
- Kittens must be at least 2 lbs and 8 weeks old for surgery.
Puppies must be at least 12 weeks old for surgery.
- Check-in time is 8:00 a.m. sharp. We adhere to a very strict surgery schedule that must be followed; please arrive on time for check-in.
When you arrive please stay in your car, we will come to you to inform you of the check in process.
Feral or Community cats should be dropped off between 8:30am and 9:00am.
- Although it is not required, we recommend that for your pet's protection, you have your pet vaccinated at your own veterinarian at least two weeks prior to surgery (unless he or she is up to date already). If you choose not to vaccinate prior to the surgery, we do offer low cost vaccinations here (DHPP and Bordatella for dogs, FVRCP for cats), which we will give at your request at the time of surgery only.
- Please ensure that animals 4 months and older do not eat any food after 12:00 midnight the night before surgery. Animals younger than 4 months may have food until 6:00 a.m. the morning of surgery. All animals must be brought indoors or confined with no access to food the night before the surgery.
- When you arrive at the center, please keep your pet in your car until you have completed the necessary admission form (available in holders outside the front door or from our staff in the front lobby).
- Louisiana state law requires that all dogs and cats 12 weeks of age (3 months) or older have a current Rabies vaccination. If your pet does not have a current Rabies vaccine, we will administer it at the time of surgery. If your pet does have a current Rabies vaccine (given within one year of date of surgery), please bring a copy of the Rabies Certificate (given to you by the veterinarian who administered the vaccine). We cannot accept a tag as proof of vaccination; you must bring the Certificate or a copy of it.
- All dogs must be on a secure, short leash or in a carrier. Cats must be in a carrier.
- We take cash, credit/debit cards (with a 3% transaction fee), or money orders. We do not accept checks.
Full payment is due when you pick up your pet.
- Please ensure your pet is free of fleas before bringing him/her for surgery. For the protection of your pet, other animals at the center, and our staff, if your pet has fleas, we will administer a flea treatment which will kill the fleas and will be effective for approximately 24 hours. If we have to administer treatment to rid your pet of fleas, there will be a mandatory $5 charge, which will be added to the cost of the surgery and is due when you pick up your pet.
- Our veterinarians perform a general physical exam of every patient prior to surgery. The exam does not include bloodwork or x-rays. Our veterinarians reserve the right to refuse service to any animal for whom surgery is deemed a health risk.
